Arctic Vegetation Archive:
data integration

The Arctic Vegetation Archive (AVA) is a comprehensive data repository for vegetation-plot observations (relevés) and local floras collected across the circumpolar region. Its primary goal is to establish and maintain a unified meta-database to harmonize vegetation data from the Arctic tundra biome.

In collaboration with the AVA team, we are harmonizing thousands of plot records from Alaska, Greenland, Svalbard, and Russia. All plots feature complete vascular plant lists, with the majority also including bryophyte and lichen identifications. We plan to publish these data in open access following FAIR principles.

The archive provides a critical baseline for modeling current and future vegetation distributions, assessing biodiversity trends, and identifying priority areas for conservation and restoration across the Arctic.
